God, grant me the courage to overcome the anxieties of emptiness and meaninglessness;
And the depression that lies beneath.
Let me experience your real presence as Mentor and Model, Guide and Teacher;
And give me the courage to participate.
God grant me the courage to overcome the anxieties of fate and death;
And the dread that lies beyond.
Let me experience your real presence as Promise Keeper and New Being;
And give me the courage to separate.
God grant me the courage to overcome the anxieties of guilt and shame;
And the anger that lies within.
Let me experience your real presence as Healer and Vindicator;
And give me the courage to accept acceptance.
God grant me the courage to overcome the anxieties of displacement and estrangement;
And the sense of abandonment the lies behind;
Let me experience your real presence as Rescuer and Gatherer;
And give me the courage to trust and be trusted.
